Faux Suede Handbags – Just as Good as the Real Thing

Faux suede handbag is fake suede handbag but there’s nothing disparaging about the term. With concerns about preserving some wildlife species, the popular genuine lambskin or ermine suede can be a thing of the past or just too expensive to be considered in your shopping list. These days, just about any natural material can be mimicked artificially. Faux suede is a soft synthetic polyester material that carries the main character and qualities of the real thing, without having to kill an animal. They are now used in shoes, upholstery, luggage, handbags and all the accessories that used to be the exclusive domain of genuine leather, and genuine suede.
Artificial vs. Genuine
Suede is basically the processed underside of animal hide, notably from lambs, goats or kids (young goat), cows and pigs. Their soft, supple and pliant qualities make them excellent materials for jackets, shoes, bags and upholstery. But genuine suede is difficult to clean and not always water resistant. They are quite susceptible to dirt and stain and can easily look worn and spoiled faster than most other leather products.
While modern technology has given us chemicals to clean them more effectively, real suede needs more time for routine care than perhaps what a busy housewife is willing to give.
Enter faux suede. If you pine for more freedom from routine maintenance, this may be what you need. Faux suede handbags are sprouting in many fashion houses as a decidedly more practical solution to having the look and feel of genuine suede for daily use. Often they come at a fraction of the price as well. As an alternative to the real thing, faux suede can be properly crafted to look and feel like genuine suede but without the disadvantages. They are easier to maintain and more water-resistant.
Because your tote bags and purses get daily abuse, faux suede handbags can be your ticket to maintenance and worry free option to have the qualities that have endeared genuine suede materials to women. They are a lot more affordable and certainly leaves your conscience about killing animals for their hide free from the guilt PETA (People for the Ethical treatment of Animals) would put in you if you continue to buy genuine leather products.
Inexpensive Gift Idea
The real advantage of using faux suede handbags is their wallet-friendly price that easily lends to becoming part of your Christmas gift list. Faux suede is already a welcome development in the fashion world where you get a good impression of real suede without its price and cleaning demands.

Suede Handbag, Better in the Winter or Summer?
November 5, 2009 by admin
Is it better to use a suede handbag in the summer or in winter? Not entirely a bad question but that is a common concern for most women with suede handbags they use for just about every occasion they get into. Getting a new one also puts that question on the table as women have become quite environmentally conscious to see that they use only the most appropriate fashion accessory at the right time of the year.
All year-round handbag, but…
The answer is quite simple. You can use a suede handbag at any time of the year. Nothing really prevents you to use suede handbags in the summer or in winter. Having said that, there are weather extremes that don’t really favor the use of suede as a material on anything and would be better suited at another time.
Better in the Cold
Too much heat can get suede to “perspire” and develop unwanted moisture that may not be good for a handbag’s contents or for the user. Suede traps heat and keeps off the cold that is why it’s a great material for sweaters and jackets. Leather always does that. That brings us to endorse suede during the winter where it is more suited. So while the summer months should be no barrier from using fashion accessories made of suede, be aware that it traps heat quite well and will not be good to a handbag’s content at the height of the summer months. In addition, a “sweaty” suede handbag will further add to its being a magnet to dirt and grime. But if you can keep it clean after every use, there’s no reason why you can’t use it in the summer months.
If you have different suede handbags in different color shades, you may want to consider using one with a lighter color as they behave better in reflecting heat off from your purse or handbag. Reserve the darker colors in the winter.
Better Deals in Summer
Now whether you will use a suede handbag in the summer heat or not, it may be good to consider investing to own a good one during summer as these types of bags are often on mark down sale at this time of the year. A lot of people believe that suede products are more saleable in the wintry months and excess inventory often give the best deal outside of the cold months. So do keep your eyes open for suede products in the summer. You’d be glad you did when winter sets in.
